G-Tube Humor

Its good to have a sense humor -- something people tend to loose with age!

Having a g-tube is for the birds!

There is NOTHING fun about it.
People get freaked out by them.
They leak or ooze.
Sometimes they down right smell.
The skin can get raw & irritated.
Granulation tissue can grow & is painful.
They get in the way or caught on things.
It can be easily pulled out.
They seem to be sore all the time.
Little kids want to touch them.
Little girl rompers are impossible.
Footy PJ's are even impossible unless adapted.
Its a challenge for your child to not play with it.
You always have to carry a spare g-tube kit.
Syringes & tubing extension sets are your new accessory.

... they are simply a pain in the butt! Nevertheless, when you have a sweet princess that has difficulty eating and drinking by mouth, they are a Godsend. Nutrition and hydration are simply fundamental things. If you don't have those two things in check, its hard to focus on anything else. Trust me, we know from first hand experience.

I ran across these pictures of g-tube/feeding/sensory humor and they totally made me laugh. Some might seem confusing to the g-tube novice, but I could relate to all of them. They all include the beautiful and bodacious Ryan Gosling!!! What a total cutie! I've loved him ever since I saw him in Remember the Titans and every girls love, The Notebook. Ryan "speaks" such sexy, seductive words ... words EVERY special needs mama wants to hear!
